Vintage Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest (23O-G219)

This is a vintage Japanese Ko tansu, small chest from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).

This tansu is made entirely of Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood so it is very light and practical to use for all storage and room enhancing purposes.

Small chests such as this one were used in Japan for the personal storage of papers, documents, ephemera, small items, books, and other personal belongings. It would make a great bedside nightstand or a beautiful lamp table with the functionality of a small cabinet with drawers.

It comes with a key.
