This is a vintage Japanese Ko Tansu (小箪笥), crafted during the Taisho period (1912–1926), combining function with traditional Japanese design. Made from solid kiri wood (Paulownia), the tansu features a cherry wood trim on the front, adding a refined touch with its rich color and distinctive grain.

The top section is highlighted by a small hinged glass door, ideal for showcasing cherished items while keeping them protected. Below, there is a set of two wooden doors, providing concealed storage. At the very bottom, two small drawers complete the piece, perfect for organizing smaller items such as accessories or tools.

Its compact design and elegant proportions make it versatile for various uses, whether as a charming accent piece, storage cabinet, or a unique addition to a collector’s display. With its timeless craftsmanship and materials, this tansu encapsulates the understated elegance of Japanese furniture from the Taisho period.

Contemporary uses for this piece include placement on a desk for additional office storage, using this as an elegant side table or placing it next to a bed for the perfect nightstand.
