This is a vintage Japanese 3 section Kimono Tansu called Isho Biraki Kimono Tansu from Taisho (1910's-1920's). It was made using solid 100% Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood. Originally used to store Japanese Kimono, it would work well in today's home as a clothes dresser or linen cabinet for daily use.
The center section houses slide out Kimono trays behind the hinged doors. Traditionally used to store properly folded Kimono, these trays are ideal for storing sweaters, shirts, blouses and linens in today's contemporary home.
Separating the sections allows for placement in different rooms which adds to the versatility of these chests.
