Description

This is a vintage Japanese Kimono Tansu, 2 section clothing chest from Taisho period (1920's-1940's).

It is made of 100% Pualownia (Kiri) wood.

Most all kimono chests are made of Kiri since it is a soft wood that breathes, which means it will prevent clothing from molding and is also fire resistant. The Kimono chest is a type of Isho dansu that was more commonly used by women. This particular type of chest has proven to be a great entertainment system because of its swinging doors and removable sliding shelves.
