This is a vintage Japanese 2 section Japanese kimono storage chest called Kimono tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).
It was made using 100% Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood.
The top section has 2 front doors that open to reveal removable kimono storage trays and the bottom section has three large drawers. Its voluminous storage combined with its elegant beauty helps bridge the design of elegance and functionality.
