This is a vintage 3 section stacking Japanese chest called Isho Tansu. The top section has a large compartment and sliding doors and 3 small drawers for small items. Lower 2 sections have 3 drawers and 2 deep drawers.
It was entirely constructed in Paulownia wood (Japanese Kirinoki). Its age is from the late Taisho to early Showa era (circa 1920's).
Originally used to store Japanese Kimono, it would work well in today's home as a clothes dresser for daily use.
