This is an authentic vintage Japanese kawara roof tile, traditionally used in temple and historic building architecture. Crafted from fired clay, the tile features a beautifully carved wave motif in relief, symbolizing strength, resilience, and the power of nature. The rich, aged patina and subtle weathering reflect its long history and exposure to the elements, giving it a rustic, timeworn charm.

The cylindrical body and circular end suggest it may have been an onigawara-style decorative end tile, often placed at the edge of rooftops for both aesthetic appeal and symbolic protection. The reverse side reveals natural wear, slight chipping, and surface marks from decades of use.

This piece now serves as a striking decorative object—perfect as a sculptural accent, historical artifact display, or even repurposed as a unique vase or planter, as shown with dried florals.
