Vintage Japanese Tetsubin Kettle, Iron (SKU 25D-187-1)

Showa-era tetsubin with finely cast sakura blossoms and an elegant upright handle

This vintage Japanese iron kettle, or tetsubin, presents a beautifully rounded body densely patterned with cherry blossoms in full bloom. The dark, softly lustrous patina highlights the crisp relief of each petal, giving the surface a rich, tactile presence that speaks to careful mold work and steady hand-finishing by a skilled caster.

An arched handle rises confidently above the lid, echoing the natural irregularity of forged iron, while the gently curved spout is proportioned for a smooth, controlled pour. The removable lid is topped with a sculptural finial reminiscent of a flower bud, completing a cohesive floral motif that makes this Showa-period kettle ideal both for daily tea preparation and as a display piece in a Japanese-inspired interior.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
