Vintage Japanese Koro Incense Burner (SKU 25D-295-1)

Charming bronze koro with fruit finial and floral relief, ideal for intimate incense rituals or tokonoma display.

This small vintage Japanese koro (incense burner) is cast in warm brown bronze with a soft, time-earned patina. The rounded body stands on three stylised scroll feet, while the sides are adorned with sculpted branches bearing ripening pomegranate-like fruits and leaves, a classic East Asian symbol of abundance and good fortune.

The pierced lid is crowned with a pair of berries and foliage, allowing fragrant smoke to drift gently through the openwork ring of linked hearts and clouds. Signed on the base, this Showa-era piece brings an authentic touch of Japanese tea room atmosphere to any space, whether used with loose incense and ash or simply enjoyed as a decorative bronze okimono.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
