Vintage Japanese Hanging Flower Arrangement (SKU 25D-292-2)
Showa-era cast iron tsuri-kabana vase with playful monkey chain and crescent moon basket
This charming vintage hanging flower arrangement, or tsuri-kabana, combines whimsical design with traditional Japanese metalwork. A series of small cast-iron monkeys link together to form a vertical chain, from which a crescent moon-shaped basket gracefully hangs, ready to cradle seasonal stems or an air plant. The warm brown patina and softly worn surfaces speak to gentle age and use while preserving crisp detail.
The moon vessel is richly textured with floral and scrolling motifs in low relief, evoking classic tetsubin-style decoration and adding depth when displayed against a simple wall or alcove. Suspended in a tokonoma, by a window, or on a veranda, this Showa-era piece brings a touch of playful folklore and night-sky poetry to any wabi-sabi interior.
