This is a vintage Japanese Tsukubai which is place in Japanese gardens and tea gardens for centuries. It is from early Showa (1920's-1940's).
Granite stone water basins ( chozubachi ) originated in ancient shrines and temples for worshipers to wash their hands and mouth as a symbol of purification. It is shaped in Kiku,chrysanthemum shape. It will be great for your garden or entrance.
