Vintage Japanese Folding Table, Showa Era (SKU 25D-274-2)

Showa-era round zashiki table with warm, timeworn patina

This vintage Japanese folding table (zataku) features a beautifully aged circular top crafted from solid hardwood planks, finished in a rich reddish-brown stain that highlights the grain. The surface shows scattered marks, light wear, and a few old stains, all consistent with long, careful use and adding to its authentic wabi-sabi character.

Underneath, the table retains its original folding leg mechanism and a hand-brushed inscription dating it to the Showa period, giving it clear historical presence. Ideal as a low coffee table, tea table, or display platform, it brings the relaxed intimacy of traditional Japanese zashiki living into a contemporary interior.

A characterful Showa-era piece that adds quiet Japanese elegance and practical versatility to any space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
