Vintage Japanese Folding Table, Showa Era (SKU 25D-274-1)

Showa-era circular chabudai with compact folding base

This vintage Japanese folding table features a warm, reddish-brown circular top with a beautiful straight grain typical of mid-Showa domestic furniture. Designed in the spirit of the traditional chabudai, it offers low, informal seating for tea, dining, or gathering on tatami while bringing an authentic period atmosphere to any room.

The underside reveals a cleverly engineered wooden frame with swing-out legs that fold flat against the top for easy storage against a wall or in a closet. Subtle wear, surface marks, and patina from use enhance its character, making this a practical yet evocative piece for interiors that appreciate wabi-sabi charm and honest Showa-era craftsmanship.

An ideal Showa-era folding table for adding functional, space-saving Japanese character to contemporary or traditional interiors.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
