Showa-era circular low table with removable center panel and folding legs
This vintage Japanese folding table is a classic zataku-style piece from the mid-Showa period, designed for floor-seated dining and tea. The warm reddish-brown circular top shows attractive grain and a softly aged patina, contrasted by black-stained legs with a subtle, turned bamboo-like profile.
At the center of the top is a removable square panel, revealing an opening that would traditionally accommodate a compact brazier or kotatsu-style heater, making this a versatile chabudai for multi-season use. Underside brass hardware and folding legs allow the table to collapse flat for easy storage, a hallmark of practical Showa-era design.
A characterful Showa-era folding table that brings authentic Japanese floor-seating culture into contemporary interiors.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
