This vintage Japanese flower basket, or hanakago, is woven in a tapered rectangular form from finely split bamboo strips, bound with darker rattan ligatures that climb the body in an expressive, almost architectural rhythm. The rich, lacquer-like reddish-brown surface has mellowed with age, giving the piece a quietly luxurious presence that suits both formal chabana and relaxed seasonal displays.

An arched natural handle rises lightly from the rim, secured with simple knots that emphasize the basket’s rustic Showa-era character.
