Vintage Japanese Ebisu Statue, Heisei Era (SKU 25D-107)
Glazed ceramic Ebisu with sea bream, a joyful symbol of prosperity and good catch
This vintage Japanese statue depicts Ebisu, one of the Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods), cheerfully embracing a plump tai (sea bream). Rendered entirely in a soft white glaze, the figure’s rounded features, smiling expression, and bare feet evoke the approachable, down‑to‑earth character of the patron deity of fishermen and merchants.
The high‑gloss ceramic surface highlights the crisp modeling of Ebisu’s robes and the finely textured fish scales, while the open mouth of the sea bream adds depth and shadow. Ideal as a focal point in a tokonoma, genkan, or shop interior, this Heisei‑era piece brings a clean, contemporary feel to a classic auspicious motif.
