Vintage Japanese Taiko Drum (SKU 25D-276)
Substantial vintage taiko-style drum with rich wood grain and iron ring fittings
This impressive vintage Japanese drum features a beautifully grained wooden body, likely carved from a single log in the traditional taiko manner. Both heads are tightly tacked with rows of dark domed nails, creating a powerful visual rhythm that echoes the deep, resonant sound these instruments are known for in matsuri and stage performance.
Side-mounted iron ring handles on chrysanthemum-decorated plates add a bold accent and make the piece easy to move or suspend. With its warm patina, surface marks from past use, and classic barrel form, this drum works equally well as a playable taiko, a sculptural floor piece, or a characterful addition to a wabi-sabi or Japanese-inspired interior.
