Vintage Japanese Drawer Type Food Cover, Heisei Era (SKU 25D-208)

Heisei-era wooden “mushiko” food cabinet with sliding mesh doors and twin drawers

This vintage Japanese drawer type food cover, or mushiko-dana, combines warm natural wood with finely screened panels to keep food ventilated yet protected. One side opens as a display or storage bay, while the other is enclosed by sliding doors fitted with dark-stained lattice slats and metal mesh, accented by a charming cut-out motif on the central brace.

Side windows with turned wooden spindles and mesh echo traditional mizuya kitchen cabinetry, and the base features two practical drawers with metal pull handles for utensils or small items. With its compact, low profile, this Heisei-era piece works beautifully as a countertop food safe, a small sideboard, or a characterful organizer in a modern kitchen or tearoom.
