Vintage Japanese Doors, Wood, Showa Era (SKU 25S-590)
Showa-era sugi wood sliding doors with classic vertical lattice and frosted glass panels
This handsome pair of vintage Japanese sliding doors, showcases a refined vertical kumiko lattice in warm-toned sugi (Japanese cedar). The rhythm of the closely spaced slats creates a graceful screen that filters light while preserving privacy, evoking the understated elegance of a traditional machiya townhouse or country kominka.
Each door is composed in three tiers: an upper field of fine latticework, a central band of frosted glass, and a solid wood lower panel that visually anchors the design. The frosted glass updates the classic shoji look for everyday durability, making these doors ideal for use as room dividers, closet fronts, or as a statement architectural feature in a Japanese-inspired interior.
