Vintage Japanese Door, showa Era (SKU 25D-361-2)

Showa-era bamboo and wood amado style door with carved koi and reeds

This vintage Japanese door is crafted in a warm natural palette, combining vertical bamboo slats with a solid wooden frame. The lower panel features an elegant openwork design of koi swimming among reeds, recalling the tranquil atmosphere of a garden pond viewed from a traditional engawa veranda. The two hinged panels can be used together as a light, breathable partition or installed as sliding doors in a custom frame.

Horizontal wooden battens rhythmically anchor the bamboo, creating subtle shadow lines that emphasize the door’s handworked character. The gently arched base rail and contrasting dark accent strip add a refined architectural note, making this piece ideal as a statement room divider, shoji-style screen alternative, or wall-mounted architectural element in both Japanese and contemporary interiors.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
