Vintage Japanese Kettle, Copper (SKU 25D-072-1)

Showa-era hand-hammered copper tetsubin-style kettle with fan and floral motif

This vintage Japanese copper kettle showcases the warmth and depth of a richly aged patina, built up over decades of careful use. The rounded body is entirely hand-hammered, catching the light in soft facets, while the domed lid is crowned with a simple wooden knop that echoes traditional tetsubin silhouettes.

On the sides, contrasting brass fan panels are inlaid and delicately engraved with seasonal motifs—dragonflies, small insects, and chrysanthemum-like blossoms—evoking classic kachō-ga (nature) themes. A gracefully arched handle, wrapped in rattan for comfortable grip, completes a piece that works beautifully as a display accent, for tea ceremony ambiance, or as part of a curated Showa-era metalwork collection.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
