Vintage Japanese "French Style" Kettle, Copper, 1950s, Showa Era (SKU 25D-148-1)
Showa-era tall copper tetsubin-style kettle with graceful handle and domed lid
This striking vintage Japanese copper kettle features an unusually tall cylindrical body, a gently swelling spout, and a high swing handle that recalls classic tetsubin silhouettes. The warm reddish-brown patina, punctuated by hints of verdigris and a contrasting brass finial, speaks to decades of careful use in a traditional kitchen or tearoom.
The interior is tin-lined, typical of mid-20th century Showa craftsmanship, making it suitable historically as a practical water or hot-water pot. Today it serves beautifully as a sculptural accent for a wabi-sabi interior, a tea ceremony display piece, or a characterful vase for seasonal branches and flowers.
