Vintage Japanese Chawan Tea Bowl (SKU 25D-234-12)
Subtle white-glazed chawan with original signed tomobako presentation box
This elegant vintage Japanese tea bowl is finished in a soft, misty white glaze with pale celadon undertones, evoking the quiet atmosphere of a winter morning. The gently flared form sits on an unglazed foot, where the fine-grained clay and impressed potter’s mark are clearly visible, emphasizing its hand-thrown character.
Accompanied by its original kiri-wood tomobako, brush-inscribed and sealed by the artist, this chawan is ideal for display or for use in chanoyu. The restrained, almost Scandinavian minimalism of the glaze makes it a versatile piece that harmonizes beautifully with both traditional Japanese interiors and modern wabi-sabi inspired spaces.
