This is a vintage 1 section Japanese tea chest called Cha Tansu from early Showa period (1940's).

The woods that are used in this tansu are Horse Chestnut (Tochinoki), Paulownia (Kirinoki) and other woods.

In your living room, the combination of shelves, drawers, and sliding drawers make it perfect for entertainment accessories and great accent piece.
