Vintage Japanese Candle Stand (SKU 25D-225-2)

Showa-era wire-mesh and iron andon-style candle stand with rustic industrial charm

This vintage Japanese candle stand recalls the practical elegance of mid-20th century andon lanterns. Crafted in a tapered iron frame with fine hexagonal wire mesh, it was designed to safely shelter a single candle while allowing its warm glow to radiate outward. The rich, timeworn patina across the metal surfaces speaks to decades of use and gives the piece a quietly atmospheric presence.

A small circular candle holder rises from the base on a simple stem, accessed through a hinged front door with a tiny latch. At the top, a domed wire-mesh cap and suspension ring allow the lantern to be hung or displayed on a shelf, alcove, or entryway. Ideal as a wabi-sabi accent, this Showa-era candle stand pairs beautifully with both traditional Japanese interiors and modern industrial décor.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
