Vintage Japanese Altar Table, Showa Era (SKU 25D-453-8)
Showa-era butsudan altar stand with rich black lacquer, gilt accents, and hand-carved floral panels
This compact vintage Japanese altar table is a finely worked butsugu stand, designed to elevate a principal image or offering within a household butsudan. The glossy black lacquer top with gently upturned ends is framed by dense gilt vine motifs, while the sides reveal deeply carved, unfinished wood panels of blossoms and foliage held between golden columnar mounts.
Below, a second tier is adorned with flowing gold maki-e style decoration of clouds, plants, and crests on a black ground, supported by scrolling gilt feet that echo temple architecture. The overall effect is both ornate and balanced, making this Showa-period altar table an ideal focal point for a small shrine, a tokonoma display, or as a distinctive piece of Japanese lacquer furniture in a curated interior.
