Vintage Japanese Altar Fitting 12" Wide Kyozukue Table (SKU 25D-453-7)
Showa-era lacquered butsudan stand with gilt and carved pine motifs
This compact Japanese altar table, or butsudan-dai, is finished in a deep black lacquer highlighted with delicate hand-painted gold scrollwork. The slightly upturned ends of the top recall traditional temple architecture, while the low stance and rounded feet give it a grounded, ceremonial presence ideal for displaying a Buddha figure, incense burner, or cherished object.
Beneath the top runs a carved frieze of stylized pine boughs, framed by gilt corner blocks and a base apron decorated with floral makie-style designs. Areas of gentle wear to the lacquer and gilding reveal its age and add character, making this vintage Japanese altar table a distinctive accent for a tokonoma, meditation space, or curated vignette.
