Vintage Japanese Altar Fitting 12" Wide Kyozukue Table (SKU 25D-453-4)
Finely lacquered butsudan altar stand with lavish maki-e and gilt details
This richly decorated vintage altar table is a textbook example of Showa-period Buddhist craftsmanship. The low rectangular platform, with its slightly upturned ends, is finished in deep kuro-urushi lacquer and framed with dense gold maki-e scrollwork, creating a dignified stage for a principal image or treasured okimono.
Beneath the top, a drum-like support is patterned in a repeating shippo-inspired lattice, while the apron is carved and lacquered with auspicious motifs—fans, shells, clouds and scrolling waves—highlighted in raised gilt and shimmering raden (mother-of-pearl) inlay. Resting on bold gilt feet and a secondary gilt tray base, this butsudan stand brings authentic temple elegance to a tokonoma, home shrine or curated Japanese interior.
