Vintage Japanese Altar Fitting 5" Wide Kyozukue Table (SKU 25D-453-11)

Finely carved miniature butsudan altar stand with rich black lacquer and gilt detailing

This compact Japanese altar table, or shokudai-dai, is finished in a deep black lacquer that sets off its lavish gold accents. The apron and feet are highlighted with scrolling foliage in gilt, framing a central band of openwork carving that evokes traditional temple ornament.

Likely created for a household butsudan, this vintage stand would have supported a small image, incense burner, or offering bowl. Today it makes a striking display base for a favorite object, bringing authentic Showa-era altar craftsmanship and a touch of formal Japanese elegance to any interior.

A refined vintage piece that adds quiet, temple-inspired presence to even the smallest sacred or decorative space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
