Vintage Japanese Altar Fitting 6" Wide Kyozukue Table, Showa Era (SKU 25D-453-10)

Showa-era miniature butsudan altar stand with rich black lacquer and gilt detailing

This finely crafted vintage Japanese altar table, or shokudai-dai, is finished in deep black urushi-style lacquer and accented with brilliant gilt decoration. The gently upturned ends of the top echo classic Buddhist altar forms, while scrolling legs and a low stretcher base give the piece an elegant, architectural presence despite its compact size.

Delicate maki-e style foliage borders frame a central hand-carved wooden panel depicting seasonal plants, flanked by gilt columnar elements. Additional gold-painted motifs along the apron and feet evoke clouds and gourds, making this an ideal stand for displaying a small Buddha figure, incense bowl, or treasured object in a contemporary tokonoma or shrine setting.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
