Vintage Japanese Altar Fitting 7 1/2" Wide Kyozukue Table (SKU 25D-453-1)

Showa-era butsudan stand with hand-carved plum blossoms and rich maki-e style decoration

This compact vintage Japanese altar table is a finely crafted butsudan stand, designed to elevate a household Buddhist image or treasured object. The glossy black lacquer surface is framed with dense scrolling foliage in gold, while the apron and legs are highlighted with auspicious cloud and treasure motifs that catch the light beautifully.

Between the upper and lower tiers runs an intricate openwork carving of plum blossoms (ume) on natural wood, flanked by gilt columns that emphasize its sculptural depth. Resting on four curled feet finished in gold, this Showa-era piece functions equally well as a small altar table, a stand for an okimono or incense burner, or as a striking focal point in a tokonoma display.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
