Powerful hand-carved Ainu kuma (bear) sculpture in a dynamic climbing pose

This vintage Japanese Ainu bear carving captures the raw strength and movement of a wild kuma as it clambers up a stylized rocky outcrop. Hewn with bold, faceted chisel marks, the dark-stained bear contrasts beautifully with the warm, natural tones of the base, emphasizing both form and texture in classic Hokkaidō folk-art style.
