Vintage Japanese Panels Screen Divider (SKU 25D-382)
Showa-era bamboo and wood room divider with delicate kumiko lattice and gourd motif
This vintage Japanese 4-panel screen divider is crafted in warm-toned wood with fine bamboo slats, evoking the lightness of traditional sudare blinds. Each panel is framed with gently arched tops and joined by metal hinges, allowing the screen to fold and stand freely as an elegant partition or backdrop in any interior.
Across the midsection runs a band of intricate kumiko latticework, flanked by stylised vine and leaf cut-outs, while the lower rail features a playful gourd (hyōtan) motif associated with good fortune and protection. The natural grain of the wood, combined with the rhythmic vertical lines of the bamboo, gives this Showa-era piece a refined yet relaxed presence, ideal for adding a touch of Japanese wabi-sabi charm to contemporary spaces.
