This is an authentic modern Japanese Ko-bako, small box with drawers that is made of Sakura, cherry bark which is a famous craft in Kakudate in Akita Prefecture, Japan. Known as the famous craft of Kabazaiku, it requires much time and patience to produce art objects of this quality.
