This is an authentic Japanese 1 section tea chest called Cha tansu from late 1900's. It was made of Japanese Cypress wood (known as Hinoki).
Tea chests were often used to display various items and would be always out in view, which is why tea chests were usually made of high quality and finely figured woods.
The front sliding doors have beautiful lattic works. This would be a great conversation piece.
