Taishō-era two-section kimono tansu with large kannon biraki doors and classic warabite pulls
This elegant antique kimono tansu is a two-section chest designed for the careful storage of folded kimono and textiles. The upper case features impressive kannon biraki double doors that open wide to reveal full-width sliding trays and shelves, allowing garments to be laid flat and accessed with ease while keeping their folds crisp.
Below, three spacious drawers with traditional warabite (bracken-shaped) iron pulls provide generous space for obi, undergarments, and accessories. The warm, straight-grained softwood, simple rectilinear form, and restrained iron hardware embody the quiet refinement of early 20th-century Japanese cabinetry, making this tansu a functional storage piece as well as a striking focal point in either a Japanese or contemporary interior.
A refined example of Japanese tansu craftsmanship, ready to bring warm character and organized storage to your space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
