Antique Japanese Three Section Kimono Tansu Chest With Mon Sukashi Bori And Warabite Pull Kanagu Hardware, Kiri, 1920s (SKU 25D-A404)

Elegant Taishō-era three-section kimono tansu with kiri mon sukashi-bori lock plates and classic warabite pull kanagu

This refined three-section isho dansu was designed for storing folded kimono and personal garments, combining generous capacity with a clean, architectural silhouette. The upper cabinet opens to reveal full-width sliding trays, ideal for laying textiles flat, while the lower section offers deep drawers for everyday clothing and accessories.

Delicate ironwork provides a striking contrast to the warm timber: pierced kiri mon sukashi-bori lock plates adorn the doors, and graceful warabite pull kanagu accent each drawer. Subtle corner miters, well-fitted joinery and an even, honey-toned finish speak to careful Taishō-period craftsmanship, making this piece equally suited to traditional Japanese interiors and modern minimalist spaces.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
