Antique Japanese Two Section Kimono Tansu Chest With Mon Hardware On Large Kannon Biraki Door And Drawers, Kiri (SKU 25D-A441)
Taishō-era two-section kimono tansu with large kannon-biraki doors and refined kiri-mon style hardware.
This handsome two-piece kimono tansu embodies the clean, architectural lines favored in late Meiji–Taishō period cabinetry. The upper section features grand kannon-biraki double doors with finely framed panels, opening to a spacious interior fitted with a single removable shelf for folded kimono, bedding, or modern wardrobe storage. The warm, honey-toned grain is showcased with minimal ornamentation, allowing the quality of the joinery and timber to speak for itself.
Below, three full-width drawers glide smoothly on traditional wooden runners, each fitted with simple iron warabite-style pulls for everyday practicality. Delicate pierced metal backplates in a kiri-mon leaf motif flank the door handles, while contrasting corner and hinge hardware subtly reinforce the case and highlight its modular, two-section construction for ease of transport. Recently refreshed yet retaining its period character, this kimono tansu offers both authentic Japanese presence and highly functional storage for contemporary interiors.
