Elegant Taishō-era two-section kimono tansu with kiri-mon hardware and large kannon-biraki door for refined textile storage.
This antique Japanese kimono tansu is a classic two-section chest (nidan tansu) designed for organizing folded kimono and obi. The warm, honey-toned casework is accented by dark iron fittings, including pierced drawer pulls and circular plates that evoke the stylized kiri-mon crest, giving the piece a quiet yet formal presence suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The upper section features a large kannon-biraki door and sliding panel compartment above small accessory drawers, while the lower section offers a generous bank of full-width drawers for garments and linens. Side-mounted carry handles and stacking hardware confirm its original modular design, allowing the chest to be separated for transport or reconfigured in a modern home as a statement storage piece.
A fine, functional kimono tansu that brings authentic Taishō-era craftsmanship and serene Japanese character to any space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
