Antique Japanese Two Section Kimono Tansu Chest With Distinctive Hardware On Five Full Width Drawers, Taisho Era (SKU 25D-B002)

Two-section Taisho-era kimono tansu with five full-width drawers and bold hand-forged iron fittings.

This handsome antique kimono tansu is crafted as a traditional two-section chest, designed for easy transport and flexible placement within the Japanese home. The warm, honey-toned casework is contrasted by deep black iron hardware, creating a clean, architectural presence that suits both classic and contemporary interiors.

Five full-width drawers offer generous storage for garments, textiles, or modern essentials, each fronted with round lock plates featuring a stylized crest motif and sturdy warabite-style pulls. Side carrying handles, corner brackets, and the central stacking lock plates all speak to the chest’s original functional life while adding strong decorative rhythm to the façade.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
