Classic two-section cha tansu with textured glass shoji-style doors and practical storage for the Japanese tea corner.
This vintage Japanese cha tansu is a two-section tea chest designed for organizing chadōgu (tea utensils) and everyday tableware. The upper case features paired glass sliding doors framed in warm hardwood, allowing a soft, diffused view of the contents while protecting them from dust and moisture—ideal for displaying yunomi, kyūsu, and small dishes.
Below, a generous work surface sits over three slim drawers and a pair of wooden hikidō sliding doors, offering discreet storage for linens, trays, and utensils. Simple brass pulls, clean rectilinear lines, and the original warm-brown finish give this tansu a distinctly Showa-era modern sensibility that integrates easily into both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A refined cha tansu that brings authentic Japanese tea-corner atmosphere and practical storage to any space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
