Antique Japanese Towel Rack (SKU 25D-316-1)
Showa-era folding towel stand with hand-painted cranes on deep red lacquer
This elegant antique Japanese towel rack is crafted in a classic folding form, finished in a rich vermilion-red lacquer that immediately recalls the warmth of a traditional ryokan. Along the lower panels, graceful tsuru (cranes) are meticulously hand-painted in gold and soft earth tones, their wings outstretched in flight to symbolize longevity and good fortune in Japanese culture.
Designed to stand lightly in the room yet offer practical hanging space, the twin frames are joined by sturdy metal hinges, allowing the rack to fold for easy placement or storage. Whether used as a kimono or hand-towel stand, or simply displayed as a decorative accent, this Meiji-style piece brings an authentic touch of Japanese daily life and refined design into a contemporary interior.
