Antique Japanese Sake Bottle (SKU 25D-328-1)
Hand-painted Showa-era tokkuri with bold calligraphy on warm white glaze
This antique Japanese sake bottle, or tokkuri, is finished in a soft off-white glaze and decorated in free-flowing iron-brown brushwork. One side bears dynamic kanji characters, while the reverse shows an abstract framed motif, giving the piece a distinctly early 20th-century folk-art feel that suits both traditional and modern interiors.
A braided natural-fiber cord is tied around the short neck, evoking its original use in a sake shop or izakaya. Subtle kiln marks, tiny pinholes, and minor firing irregularities add to its wabi-sabi charm, making this Showa-era sake bottle an atmospheric accent for a bar display, flower arrangement, or curated collection of Japanese ceramics.
