Taishō-era three-section kimono tansu with hikido sliding doors, Kannon biraki doors, and full-width warabite-pull drawers.
This elegant antique kimono tansu is a classic three-section chest designed for organizing folded kimono and accessories in a traditional Japanese home. The warm, honey-toned wood is accented with understated black iron hardware, giving the piece a refined yet practical presence that suits both period interiors and modern spaces.
The upper section features hikido sliding doors and a small interior kozuka of drawers, ideal for obi-age, obijime, or jewelry. The central Kannon biraki double doors open wide to reveal spacious shelving for stacked garments, secured by decorative lock plates with a working key. Below, three full-width drawers with classic warabite pulls offer generous storage for kimono, linens, or contemporary wardrobe pieces while preserving the tansu’s original Taishō character.
A beautifully balanced kimono tansu that brings authentic Taishō-era craftsmanship and highly functional storage to today’s interiors.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
