Antique Japanese Three Section Kimono Tansu Chest With Hikido Mon Hardware On Kannon Door And Multi Sized Drawers, Kiri (SKU 25D-A457)

Taishō-era three-section kimono tansu with kiri-mon inspired hardware and beautifully balanced multi-sized storage.

This classic three-section kimono tansu was crafted in Japan in the early 20th century, designed for storing folded kimono and obi in an elegant yet highly practical form. The clean vertical grain, softly chamfered paneling, and restrained metalwork give the chest a refined Taishō presence, while the central kannon-biraki doors with pierced kiri-mon style hardware provide a distinctive focal point.

Behind the sliding hikidō doors and swing-out cupboard, a thoughtfully arranged interior offers shelves and compartments for garments and accessories, complemented by multi-sized drawers below and across the midsection. Original iron pulls, corner plates, and a working key complete this versatile tansu, which separates into three stacking units for easier transport and flexible display in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

A handsome, functional kimono tansu that brings authentic Taishō-era craftsmanship and warm Japanese character to any space.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
