Antique Japanese Tea Chest, 1910s (SKU 25D-C422)
Taishō-era Japanese chadansu with woven sliding doors and multiple drawers
This antique Japanese tea chest, or chadansu, dates to the early 20th century and showcases the refined simplicity of Taishō-period design. The warm, dark-stained wood frame is contrasted by finely woven rattan sliding doors, creating a subtle pattern that adds texture without overpowering the clean lines of the piece.
Open shelves above the cabinet provide display space for teaware or seasonal objects, while five lower drawers and a roomy interior compartment offer practical storage. Side cut-out handles and a slender central support post lend a light, architectural feel, making this chest ideal as a compact tea cabinet, sideboard, or entry console in both traditional and modern interiors.
