Antique Japanese Sado No Face Buddha, Stone (SKU 25D-338-2)
Weathered “no-face” stone Buddha from Sado, with softly eroded features and quiet wabi-sabi presence.
Hand-carved from a single block of local stone, this compact Buddha figure embodies the rustic spirituality of Sado Island. The once-defined facial features have been worn away by decades of exposure, creating the characteristic “no-face” expression that invites contemplation rather than depiction.
Traces of moss and natural patina cling to the surface, testifying to its life outdoors as a jizō-like guardian in a garden, temple path, or roadside shrine. Its simple, almost abstract seated form makes it an ideal accent for a Japanese garden, tokonoma alcove, or meditative interior space.
