Compact Taishō-era style ko-tansu chest with three drawers and original iron hardware

This charming small drawer chest evokes the practical elegance of an antique Japanese ko-tansu. The dark-stained exterior has developed a rich patina, with fine wear lines and softened edges that speak to decades of careful use. Three graduated drawers slide smoothly within a simple rectilinear case, their fronts finished in a deeper tone that contrasts beautifully with the lighter interior wood.

Each drawer is fitted with classic warabite-style iron pulls and a lock plate on the top drawer, recalling the fittings seen on traditional tansu cabinetry from early 20th-century Japan. Ideal for storing writing tools, tea utensils, or small accessories, this modest yet characterful piece brings an authentic touch of Taishō-period craftsmanship to a desk, shelf, or tokonoma alcove.
