Antique Japanese Sewing Box (SKU 25D-242)
TAisho-era wooden itomaki-bako with rich grain and practical multi-drawer storage.
This compact Japanese sewing box, or haribako, is crafted in warm-toned hardwood with a striking, undulating grain that recalls the bold patterns of antique tansu cabinetry. Three front drawers with iron pull handles offer organized storage, while the lidded top section opens to reveal divided compartments for threads, needles, and small notions.
Beautifully proportioned and quietly functional, this Showa-period piece works equally well today as a desktop organizer, jewelry chest, or entryway catch-all. The time-softened patina, traditional joinery, and original metal hardware give it the authentic character collectors seek, while its clean lines suit both classic and contemporary interiors.
