Antique Japanese Mizuya Kitchen Tansu Chest With Multi Sized Hikido Sliding Doors And Warabite Drawers (SKU 25D-E412)

Substantial two-section mizuya tansu with glass hikido and rows of classic warabite-drawer storage.

This impressive antique Japanese mizuya kitchen tansu is composed of a generous upper display section with four glass hikido sliding doors over a bank of multiple drawers. The warm, honey-toned wood showcases a straight, clean-lined frame and simple joinery that highlight the natural grain, while the glass-fronted shelves are ideal for presenting ceramics, lacquerware, or everyday tableware in a traditional yet airy way.

Below, the chest offers an array of small and larger drawers, each fitted with classic iron warabite pulls, providing highly organized storage reminiscent of old Japanese kitchens and merchant interiors. The piece retains the character marks, light wear, and color variations expected of an authentic antique, giving it a quiet wabi-sabi presence that suits both contemporary and traditional spaces.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
